Planning Your Business Blog

By @Stephen • 2 September 2008 • Filed in: Blogging

The website or blog for your business will serve as a natural consumer destination. The probable purchasers that visit your website are searching for meaningful information to distinguish your business services from those of your competitors. Use the website to point to the blog and highlight the distinct features and benefits offered by your business.

Your blog is a perfect place to provide side-by-side comparisons of your products and services with those of your competitors. It is also a place for your current customers to talk about your products in the Comments and in guest-posts and recommendations.

Remember to educate your customers

As difficult as it may be to believe, your customers and probable purchasers spend less time thinking about your products, your services and your industry than you do. Write clearly and concisely to provide these visitors with the specific information that they will need to have in order to make an informed buying decision.
People do not like to be sold, but they love to buy. Only tell them exactly what they need to know about your industry, your products and your services. Engage them. Create some excitement.

Think of your website or blog as less of a catalog of products and services, and more as an online teaching tool and catalog of recommendations. Even when you do most of your selling offline the probable purchasers will do their research online.

When you begin planning and creating website and blog for your business, consider these points:
